At Optal we’re a fast-growing company with plenty to keep us busy. But we also understand the importance of helping others less fortunate. That’s why we’re always looking for ways to give a little back, especially at times of plenty like Christmas.
We’re delighted to say that our latest effort, a stellar Christmas raffle, was a huge success, raising over £1000 for mental health charity Mind.
Help at hand
Every year, one in four Brits will experience a mental health problem. Yet hundreds of thousands of us struggle on in silence – often unaware that help is at hand. That’s why Mind was founded, providing expert support to empower individuals to understand their condition and the choices available to them going forward.
Not only does Mind offer a confidential Infoline and a separate legal advisory service, but also a network of 130 local organisations to deliver mental health services throughout England and Wales. Mind also campaigns to change legislation and industry regulations, so that every man, woman and child is treated fairly, positively and with respect.
But this work doesn’t come cheap. The charity spent nearly £6 million last year on its local networks alone, which provide most services free of charge.
Goodbye Secret Santa
In 2018 we decided to do away with Secret Santa as we believed the time, money and effort put into it could be better spent on a more worthwhile venture. The Optal Christmas raffle was duly born, and we haven’t looked back since.
With many thanks to some generous donations from Graham Mayes, The London Edition, Mastercard, Octopus, Visa and Optal Group. Congratulations to the lucky recipients and a big thank you to everyone that took part.
With thanks to Optal staff for their generosity we raised £1,170 for Mind this year. We know it will be put to good use given the fantastic work they do.
